Featured Events: Third Thursday, Friday Night Cruise-In, Summerfest & More
Hot, hot August nights. What's there to do when the weather is like this other than stay super hydrated and chill inside the house with the AC on full blast? Well, Downtown Denton Main Street has a suggestion or two for some local summertime fun.
There's the ever popular Third Thursdays! This month only, we have a change of date though, due to preparations for Summerfest. We're doing "Second" Thursday for August on the Third Street Green--August 11th, 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Downtown shops stay open a little longer than usual and food vendors (food trucks, too!) have delicious specials in addition to your favorites. Pull up a lawn chair to enjoy live music. You can shop for those perfect homemade crafts and gifts, fresh flowers and home-grown veg or fruit.
Third Thursdays have plenty of engaging activities for you or the family. If you're looking for spirited competition, the Pub has a Trivia night. With family in mind, we recently did some interactive tie dying! This time, we're making giant paper flowers. As always, you can participate in the ever-popular Cornhole Tournament or cheer on your team. Interested in being a vendor? Let us know!
Then, there's Friday Night Cruise In on August 12th. Friday Night Cruise In is a car show that takes a step back to a time when muscle cars and chrome were king, and cars were all about attitude. You'll find us in Historic Downtown Denton on Market Street. Bring the family, enjoy a night of classic, custom cars, motorcycles, and more. What more could there be, you ask? How about Kona Ice, and hot dogs? Plus, we're honoring Dean Danielson, our event creator, who passed away last year. Have a car you want to show at the Cruise In? Contact us for more info.
Finally, there's the highly anticipated Caroline Summerfest. This year, the Caroline Summerfest theme is Sunset Serenade. Held August 19th and 20th, from 5:00 PM till 9:00 PM, Caroline Summerfest is an outdoor celebration of the arts and entertainment on the grounds and surrounding streets of the Caroline County Courthouse in historic Denton. The two-day event hosts free music, entertainment, KidsArt, food booths, fire truck rides, and our renowned fireworks on Saturday night to close out the festival.
Come on. Take a leisurely stroll through historic Denton where your neighbors are the shop owners, the art is vibrant, the community is strong, and walkability is what joins us on these hot August nights.
